organized by the Association of Hungarian Photographers, Hungarian Month of Photography has become a major event series of the Hungarian photography scene, one with the most extensive programme.
Last year, the Association of Hungarian Photographers staged the retrospective of Nobuyoshi Araki, and will now bring to Budapest another show of great interest: the display of Robert Doisneau’s work is the professional highlight of Mai Manó House’s 2020 exhibition programme.
This year Hungarian Month of Photography presents a diverse set of 55 events, an unprecedentedly high number: from mid-October until late November, the exhibitions will be complemented with guided tours and professional talks.
In addition to Budapest, towns and cities in Bács-Kiskun, Baranya, Győr-Moson-Sopron, Komárom-Esztergom, Fejér, Nógrád and Hajdú-Bihar Counties are also home to events, which is to say exhibitions from all seven regions of the country have joined our festival. We are very pleased that artists who have won the scholarship of the Association of Hungarian Photographers are, as it is now a tradition, presenting their works at Art Market Budapest, and that the two largest shows of press photography also participate in Hungarian Month of Photography. If World Press Photo and the Hungarian Press Photo Exhibition will deservedly attract large audiences, we are equally delighted to welcome in the programme shows that have considerable importance as regards the history of photography, such as Kassák Museum’s great exhibition of Éva Besnyő’s work.
We are particularly proud that, despite the pandemic, we can offer a programme that has never been this lavish and colourful, with events organized both by ourselves and by our partners.
