Invented True Family Stories

Curator: Zsuzsanna Szegedy-Maszák

The exhibition presents new works Marianne Csáky, Marcell Esterházy and Kata Tranker made specifically for this occasion. Making use of private family shots (whether found or their own) is a crucial part of the work of all three artists, as is the digital or mechanical manipulation of such pictures for the purposes of photo-based works. With their works they amend the momentariness of the snapshots, adjust the chronology or the roles within the families, mask unimportant elements, or make use of the documentary quality of the photograph to invent true stories.
